EPS™ AZIMUTHING RETRACTABLE THRUSTER: PROPULSION AND MANOEUVRABILITY

The EPS™ Azimuthing Retractable thruster offers all the benefits of the highly successful EPS™ Side Tunnel thruster, while also performing propulsion and steering duties. The blades are designed for one direction rather than the two needed for a side thruster, and the unit can be placed in the skeg or stored below a swim platform when cruising.

The EPS™ Azimuthing Retractable thruster offers phenomenal manoeuvrability and can turn 360 degrees in its own length. It is ideal for dynamic positioning, station keeping and mooring. Used as part of a DP system, the vessel’s main engines can be turned off to lower noise levels and increase comfort. The absence of grease and oil makes the EPS™ very environmentally friendly.

Capable of continuous use, the EPS™ Azimuthing Retractable thruster can also be deployed as a main propeller for smaller ships.

A non-retractable azimuthing version is under development.
