23-01-2017

Mr. Krautkremer (r) - Mr. Kubiatowicz-Brodersen

At the 2016 International Workboat Show in New Orleans, Van der Velden Marine Systems BV (VDVMS) and Ships Machinery International Inc. (SMI) signed a service agreement covering the USA and Mexico. The agreement will provide much-needed support for the increasing population of high quality VDVMS rudder and steering systems in the service area.
Speaking on the occasion of the contract signing, SMI President Michael Krautkremer said: “In addition to the growing number of ships worldwide with VDVMS rudder and steering systems on board, the advent of new and innovative systems like the Retractable Flanking Rudder will require more factory trained technicians providing local support. SMI will have factory trained and certified service technicians available to perform installations, startups and repairs on all VDVMS rudder systems.
SMI has successfully represented VDVMS for over 20 years in the U.S. market. With more and more clients now using VDVMS rudder and steering systems, SMI is pleased to have reached this new milestone in being selected as a new VDVMS service provider.“ Speaking on behalf of VDVMS, Director Services Knut Kubiatowicz-Brodersen said: “With SMI Van der Velden Marine Systems has a strong and reliable partner. The signing of the agreement will give VDVMS clients operating in the area access to 24/7 assistance, remote trouble shooting and failure analysis as well as on-location assistance.” The agreement follows VDVMS recent contract with Panama Ship Repair and Service S.A. (PASRAS), which saw VDVMS’s service offering expanded to clients in the Caribbean and Central and South America. It is the aim of the company to guarantee its clients the fastest possible service wherever they are operating, anywhere in the world.
